The Dream Come True Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Chiquita Board as the new Executive Director.  DCTF is an Austin-based nonprofit organization committed to transforming the lives of high-potential individuals and families from poverty to prosperity.

Board previously served as the DCTF Program Services Director and has been with the organization since 2016. In her new role, Board will provide strategic leadership to the organization’s program efforts to break intergenerational cycles of poverty. These programs include a local and regional robust growth plan and civic partnerships to identify diverse and inclusive board members, mentors, volunteers, and donors at every level. She will lead day-to-day operations and implement the foundation’s 5-year strategic plan with a dynamic board of directors which includes CPAs, Organizational and Development experts, finance gurus, COOs, and current executives who are responsible for leading some of Austin’s Fortune 100 companies.

“I am elated about the opportunity to serve as Executive Director for an organization I’ve been passionate about for years,” says, Board. “As Executive Director, I will ensure that DCTF continues to realize its mission, scale up for long-term sustainable growth, and become Austin’s go to poverty disruptor model for the next 10 years and beyond. Board has hit the ground running and is searching for the next generation of leaders with dreams to support.”

Board also remains actively engaged as a thought-leader on the following  boards: Texas Jump$tart, Manor Chamber of Commerce, Financial Fitness of Greater Austin, St. Mary Baptist Church Human Resources Committee, and FDIC’s Alliance for Economic Inclusion.

She started her career as a County Extension Agent with the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension in managing multiple consumer education programs, partner relations, and identifying funders to expand programs to meet demand, with a result of 51% in increased funding.  She has consulted with Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, Disaster Housing Assistance Program, Marietta Housing Authority, United Way of Greater Atlanta, Wells Fargo, and more.

“After working with Chiquita for several years, we’re thrilled to have her join us at a more strategic level,” said Jack Speer, co-founder and board member of DCTF. “Her unique experience navigating corporate, government and nonprofit communities make her very well positioned to lead us going forward.”

Ms. Board has a BS in Business Administration from Shorter University.  She is married to Michael and they have five adult children together.  She loves to travel, eat fine foods, learn new cultures and spend time with her grandchildren.
